30,000 CNG models of Volkswagen called to review a problem with deposits

The Volkswagen group has had an unforeseen with some of their models powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and calls for revision to 30,000 units affected. In future Motorpasión we have already spoken more than once of environmental economic advantages of this fuel in contrast to traditional, and although in Spain its use is minority, in countries like Germany or Italy itself that have both a park significant of these vehicles.

Of course, the manufacturer has not disclosed the most relevant countries will be affected by this recall work. In its statement, only it explains that the area in question is the European Union. The issue continues to be serious, because the defect discovered concerning the gas tank.


Volkswagen says that this is a problem of corrosion of the material they are made. In July this year the Germans called to review the Volkswagen Touran 5,900 units by "a potential risk of corrosion that could result in gas tank explosion." The manufacturer is therefore pending contact the owners of the Caddy, Touran and Passat CNG sold between 2006 and 2010.
